Location Groups

A group represents a physical storage area in your lab, such as an evidence locker, and holds the individual locations within it. Each location appears as a tile inside the group. Setting up your groups and locations lets you recreate your physical storage in Monolith so you can track exactly where an item is stored.

Create a group

  1. In the left-hand navigation, open Evidence Management and click Item Locations.

  2. The boxes on this page are your existing groups. Click Create Group.

  3. A new box appears. Type a name for the group, for example an evidence locker, and press Enter.

Groups are created within the office you are currently in. If you have multiple offices, check that the correct one is selected at the top before creating a group.

Add locations to a group

Locations are the individual spots within a group, such as the shelves in an evidence locker. Adding them lets you track which shelf an item is stored on.

  1. Click the arrow on the group box to expand it.

  2. Click Create Location.

  3. Enter a name for the location, for example a shelf number.

  4. Repeat for each location you want to add.

Each location you create appears as a tile inside the group.

Using your groups

Once your groups and locations are set up, they become available to select when you set up your evidence and storage items, so Monolith can track where each item is located. See the Item Locations documentation for how to assign a location during intake.
